Teaching aims

the students are supposed to use:

New words: father mother sister brother grandparents

Expressions: this is...these are... that is ... those are...

Ability aim: use the target language to introduce family members.

Phonetic aim: Ss practice pronounce “th  zs”

Teaching procedure:

1. Warming-up

T ask students’ name and say This is Anna.That is Tom. These are…Those are…

Then Ss introduce their classmates to T by using This is …That is…

(practice this /that/these/ those)

2. Enjoy an Enlish song

An English song about family, try to teach family,father,mother…

Step 1 Presentation

A. See ppt 

T: This is a picture of David’s family. Guess who are they?

Ss: I think she/he is David’s...

   I think they are David’s...

T: Use this/that/these/these to introduce David’s family.

(T lead Ss to pronounce mother/father/brother...Meanwhile, ask Ss to pronounce “rather, there, ants, cats..”Ss learn new words and practice using this is /that is/these are/those are...)

B. Play a game. Who is not here?

(Make Ss familiar with family members.)

Step 2 Practice

Introduce David’s family

Eg: This is …That is… These are….

Step3 Listening practice

T: Ask Ss to listen to a dialogue, circle the person in 1a.

Ss: Listen and circle.

Step 4 Practice 

T present a picture of her family and ask Ss to ask: Who are they? Who is she/he?

Step 5 Listening practice

T:Ask Ss to write family members they hear.

(T give Ss a tip: write down the first letter of the word.)

3. Listen 2b

T:T lead Ss to guess male name or female name.,then listen.

Ss: Finish the task.

4.T: Introduce Cindy’s family members to LiLan.

Ss: He is Cindy’s...His name is...

  Or This is Cindy’s ...Those are...

Step 6

T:Draw a picture of your family, introduce them to your classmates.

Ss: Draw the picture and introduce to classmates.

Eg: Hello, Everyone ! This is a picture of my family .There are...people in my family. This is my …, his name is …That is my …, her name is …These are my …I love them.

 

Homework:

1. Listen to the tape and imitate(听音模仿) 2a

2. Try to introduce your family to more friends .
